The name of the castle Fontainebleau, is derived from "fontaine belle eau", which means in German source with beautiful water ". It is a French castle near Paris, which was also used by Napoleon Bonaparte at times. It was the residence of 34 kings and two emperors and is the only castle that was inhabited for almost eight centuries by French rulers. It is famous for its interiors from the Renaissance period and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981. With 1500 rooms it is one of the largest castles in France and is the most furnished castle in Europe. Pierre Dennis Martin painted the view of the magnificent castle and the 130 hectare park. Fontainebleau Castle has 4 main yards and, in the heart of three historic gardens, is the widest in Europe.
