Yellow-Red-Blue is a fascinating, colorful painting by Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky from 1925. Kandinsky lived in Weimar at the time the picture was made and taught analytical drawing at the Bauhaus. From the combination of Russian constructivism with the expressionism of the Blue Rider, the exceptional artist developed his own compositional doctrine, for which this work is exemplary. "Point and line to surface" is the artist's book, which was created almost at the same time as the exciting painting yellow-red-blue and illustrates many of the foundations of his art: Wassily Kandinsky not only painted, but also presented an exciting scientific theory on the relationship between colors and colors Forms: The blue is assigned to the circle, the yellow to the triangle and the red to the square. Even lines, sharp or obtuse angles and surfaces have a well-defined goal and great significance in the constructivist creative phase of the artist. With the theoretical background, the strong and intense painting, which now hangs in the original at Center-Georges-Pompidou in Paris, becomes even more complex and interesting. However, even without getting into the 200-page theory of the book, the picture is a real eye-catcher and brings a lot of dynamism and happiness in the apartment. Circles, squares, straight and curved lines flicker across the surface of pastel shades. The blue circle in the upper right half of the picture is reminiscent of a planet. Sunbathing, moons - or are they glowing eyes and the point of a question mark that has stretched far out? Like semicircles drawn with the compass, parallel lines. Who sees a man in profile with a red-edged eye on the left? Geometric, colorful color carpets reminiscent of Rubic's cubes with our current experience. Intertwined bodies, floating forms on different levels. The picture invites to dream and free association. It exudes cheerful cheerfulness, is very decorative and fits in with many furnishing styles. Yellow-red-blue stimulates the imagination like few pictures, without getting excited. Despite the dynamics, the image composition is harmoniously soothing and you never get enough of it. The bright colors and finely tuned contrasts convey confidence and optimism. Yellow-red-blue is a timeless painting that appeals to many people: analysts who love geometric shapes and immerse themselves in the theory of constructivism. Art lovers who intuitively indulge in the poetry of colors and shapes. And children, whose imagination begins to bubble when looking at the picture. For Kandinsky the Bauhaus period was a particularly active creative phase with a lot of artistic exchange with famous painter friends like Lyonel Feininger, Paul Klee and Alexej von Jawlensky . Shortly before the emergence of yellow-red-blue, the four painters joined together to form the artist group "Die Blaue Vier". It was not until the closing of the Bauhaus by Walter Gropius by the National Socialists that Kandinsky ended his teaching career in Weimar and Dessau. Yellow-red-blue is an impressive testimony to this era of artistic change. © Meisterdrucke |
