Carel Fabritius - “The Goldfinch”, 1654
Art reproduction on canvas in a “Lychorida” frame
In this version, Carel Fabritius’s “The Goldfinch” from 1654 appears as a quiet, almost casual observation of a small bird. The painting shows the goldfinch on its simple perch, chained yet alertly present. It is precisely the restraint of the composition that gives the work its special impact: a light background, few objects, a subtle shadow and the precisely captured vitality of the bird. Fabritius, a 17th-century Dutch painter and pupil of Rembrandt, combined precise observation with an unusually light, clear style of painting.
The reproduction measures 23 × 35 cm and is executed on Leonardo (Satin) canvas. The satin finish faithfully reproduces the delicate tonal values, the light picture surface and the fine details of the plumage. The motif is mounted on a stretcher frame and framed in white on the sides, emphasising the tranquil effect of the original.
The work is framed in the classic “Lychorida” decorative frame in black with a hollow light brown and gold edge. Measuring 45 mm in width and 36 mm in height, the small image is given a clean, warm frame. A discreet peg-and-hook hanging system completes the finish unobtrusively.
