Friedrich Wilhelm von Schadow - “Wilhelmine Luise, Princess of Prussia”
Art reproduction on canvas in the „Lydia“ frame with „Andrea“ fillet
In this version, Friedrich Wilhelm von Schadow’s portrait “Wilhelmine Luise, Princess of Prussia” appears as a serene depiction of courtly dignity and personal reserve. The painting depicts the princess in a finely balanced composition, in which posture, gaze and attire are carefully coordinated. Schadow, a major painter of the 19th century and a leading figure of the Düsseldorf School of Painting, combines clear line with an idealised yet sensitive conception of the subject in his portraits.
The reproduction measures 48 × 48 cm and is executed on Leonardo (satin) canvas. The finely textured, satin-finished surface faithfully reproduces the soft transitions of the flesh tones, the texture of the clothing and the calm colour scheme of the portrait. The motif is mounted on a stretcher frame and continues in a mirrored pattern at the sides, giving the edges of the picture a seamless appearance.
The work is framed in the classic decorative frame “Lydia” in green with a gold grain. Measuring 66 mm in width and 32 mm in height, the portrait is given a striking frame, which is further accentuated by the “Andrea” fillet on the inside. A fitted serrated hanging mechanism completes the design.
