Vilhelm Hammershøi - “Interior with a Young Woman at the Piano”
Art reproduction on canvas in a “Vitura” frame
In Hammershøi’s “Interior with a Young Woman at the Piano”, a quiet, understated space unfolds. A young woman sits at the piano with her back to the viewer, her body calm and completely absorbed in the moment. The light falls softly into the room, gliding over the walls, floor and furniture, and settles on the scene in subtle gradations. The restrained colour palette of greys, beiges and muted whites reinforces the calm, almost meditative atmosphere. The painting is representative of Hammershøi’s interior scenes, in which the focus is less on the action and more on light, space and silence.
In the 44 × 54 cm format, the composition remains balanced and clearly structured, with plenty of space for surface and light effects. The “Leonardo” canvas precisely captures the subtle tonal gradations and soft transitions of the original; its satin-finished surface reveals a subtle, uniform weave structure in detail.
The motif is framed by the Baroque “Vitura” decorative frame, made of black high-gloss wood moulding. The glossy surface creates a deliberate contrast to the tranquil, matt atmosphere of the image without overpowering it. At the same time, the deep black frames the composition calmly and draws the eye into the bright, minimalist interior, whilst the pronounced moulding lends the frame depth and a classical appearance.
