This image of Pierre-Auguste Renoir, "Boat Boat Lunch", was created in 1880. It is one of the most famous of his works in impressionist style and is also known as "The Breakfast of the Rowers". Renoir has captured private impressions here. There are loud people perpetuated from his environment. So lean on the railing children of the host Fournaise. The young woman in the foreground with the little dog later became Renoir's wife. The locality, the "Maison Fournaise", was an idyllic restaurant located in Chatou on the Seine, where rowers as well as impressionists of the time liked to meet. As people became more interested in cycling, this establishment closed at the beginning of the 20th century. It is probably due to this image and the fame of the returning artists that the restaurant was reopened with an affiliated museum in the 1990s. © Meisterdrucke |
