Bizan White, 300g

Bizan White paper is among the most exquisite print media from the Japanese paper manufacturer Awagami. At their Japanese paper mill, each sheet is created with the utmost care, centuries of experience, and deep respect for nature. Mulberry tree fibers combined with hemp form the foundation of the incomparable Bizan paper, which is still made by hand, sheet by sheet, to this day. Every step of the process — from harvesting the plant fibers, to chopping and cooking the raw materials, to the multiple rounds of hand-moulding in wooden-framed screens — reflects outstanding craftsmanship. Even the application of the coating that enables brilliant color reproduction, and the careful inspection of each individual sheet, are carried out by the master papermakers themselves. Through the traditional technique of multiple moulding, a paper of soft, elastic consistency is created. The fibers interweave into a dense, firm structure. The result is a paper with a remarkable weight of 300 g/m² that stands out for its extraordinary stability and tear resistance. Bizan White features an intense whiteness, achieved entirely without chemical bleaching agents.

The texture of this paper has a refined, natural feel. Held up to the light, the fibers reveal themselves in their full glory, highlighting the paper's luxurious character. Thanks to its strength and durability, artwork printed on this paper can be displayed without a frame. The matte surface minimizes light reflections, so no special precautions are needed. The addition of hemp fibers also gives Bizan White impressive longevity — just think of the Gutenberg Bible, printed on hemp paper, which has survived to this day. Bizan paper offers museum-quality art prints built to last.

In Japanese culture, art holds a firm place in daily life. Authentic, powerful prints of Asian artworks look particularly stunning on this paper. 'The Great Wave off Kanagawa' is one of the most iconic woodblock prints in Japanese art history. This graphic masterpiece isn't a standalone image — it's part of a series. A true feast for the eyes unfolds when prints from such a series are arranged as a gallery. Bizan White is an excellent choice for art prints of all eras and styles.
