Master of the Wilton Diptych - “Richard II is presented to the Virgin and Child by his patron saint John the Baptist and Saints Edward and Edmund”, c. 1395-1399
Art reproduction on canvas in a gold frame “Lena”
In this version, the work by the Master of the Wilton Diptych appears as a solemn depiction of courtly piety and medieval iconography. Richard II kneels before the Virgin and Child, accompanied by John the Baptist and Saints Edward and Edmund, who appear as figures of protection and authority. The scene combines political legitimacy with religious veneration: the king is not portrayed in isolation, but is integrated into a heavenly order. The clear gestures, the sumptuous robes and the golden imagery are reminiscent of the art of around 1400, in which devotion and representation were closely intertwined.
The reproduction measures 66 × 48 cm and is printed on Leonardo (satin) canvas. The satin finish faithfully reproduces the fine details, the vibrant colours and the festive character of the original. The motif is mounted on a stretcher frame and framed in white on the sides, ensuring the picture area remains uncluttered.
The work is framed by the classic “Lena” decorative frame in gold. With a width of 18 mm and a height of 26 mm, the scene is given a narrow, historically appropriate frame. A screw-mounted scalloped hanger discreetly completes the design.
