The Vroni picture frame combines a dark emerald green with a brushed inner edge in patinated antique silver. The vividly distressed vintage look allows the green to shift between deep forest tones and a cool shimmer, depending on how the light falls. The silver, too, does not reflect light across its entire surface, but in fine longitudinal streaks. The 30 mm wide and 24 mm high profile is made of solid wood. Its sturdy, almost rectangular base rises gently towards the picture side, where it transitions into a narrow, rounded silver edge. This slight elevation catches the light and gently draws the eye to the subject. The design is reminiscent of coloured gallery frames from the 19th and early 20th centuries, in which metallic inner mouldings visually separated the painting from the bolder outer colour. The rebate on the reverse holds the artwork, glass and backing board. For delicate works, we recommend an acid-free backing board and sufficient space between the picture surface and the glazing. We select the hanging system to suit the format and weight, ensuring the solid frame hangs securely and without tension. We particularly recommend ‘Vroni’ for botanical illustrations or atmospheric landscapes. It looks at its best when the subject features shades of green, grey or muted blue.
