Painting Frames "Paivi"

The Paivi model is a narrow frame made of solid wood, 20 mm wide and 19 mm high. Its finely stepped profile combines a flat central surface with a slightly projecting outer edge and a narrow inner edge. Small floral rosettes, a row of beads and a continuous leaf motif adorn the moulding without making it appear heavy. The antique gold finish features warm shades of bronze, brown and gold. Darker recesses emphasise the ornamentation, whilst raised areas reflect the light subtly. The design is reminiscent of ornate mouldings from the Classical period, in which bands of foliage, pearls and regularly spaced rosettes clearly framed paintings. Such mouldings were used particularly for portraits, smaller landscapes and graphic works. The raised inner edge creates a gentle transition to the picture, whilst the flat centre keeps the overall impression balanced. We particularly recommend Paivi for finely painted portraits or atmospheric landscapes in muted colours. It looks at its best when the subject features sufficient calm areas and can complement the warm gold-brown colouring. It also gives smaller formats a defined, striking outline.
