With this picture of a "riverside scene" I am referring to a photo that I once took in the Zoological Garden in Poznan. The zoo in this Polish city offers a large area for various animal species, and visitors can take relaxing walks. The painting shown here is based on a photo taken at the zebra enclosure. It was a summer day, and of course the photo was not painted realistically, but turned into a work of art. The red bench with the three people was of course not there. The bench can be understood as a symbol for the spectators who came to the enclosure at their leisure. In this painting, the depiction of the zebras was deliberately omitted. Instead, the focus is on creating a cozy and relaxed atmosphere to give the viewer the feeling of sitting comfortably on a couch and watching something pleasant in the cinema. In this case, the viewer of the painting is looking at the people in the painting, who in turn are looking at something. The original is an oil painting on canvas from 2019 measuring 40 x 50 cm and was created in the artist's studio in Berlin-Mitte.
