Painting Frames "Beate" |

| When we think of Beate, we picture the light in a small Cornice workshop in Milan: silvery reflections dancing across a moulding, revealing their warm nuances only upon closer inspection. It is this impression that we particularly love about the Wohlleb frame. Its silver-coloured surface has a fine, longitudinal texture with a brushed finish. Reddish-brown highlights and small, darker speckles lend the subtle patina its lively character. The narrow moulding, made of solid wood, is 20 mm wide and 28 mm high. Its front forms a gentle moulding: from the raised outer edge, it curves downwards towards the narrow inner edge. This shape is reminiscent of the mouldings on traditional picture frames, though here without ornate decoration. It gently guides the eye towards the picture and lends it a sense of spatial depth. Along the curve, the silver alternates between bright streaks of light and softer grey areas. The dark-coloured, similarly recessed outer side provides a calm contrast. We are happy to recommend Beate for black-and-white photographs of Italian architecture or landscapes in cool shades of blue and grey. It looks at its best when the image allows its delicate surface some breathing space and individual warm hues echo the patina. |
